Pass It On

I recently visited my friend Pat's blog and found the Pass It On, Random Act of Kindness, Give-Away posted there. It took me all of two seconds to decide to participate and now I am following the rules and posting a similar give-away here. The rules are simple and it seems like it will be a lot of fun.
The first five (5) people to comment on this post will get something from or made by me. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

• I make no guarantees that you will like what I make (if I decide to make something).
• What I create or give will be just for you.
• It’ll be done over the next 12 months.
• You have no clue what it’s going to be. It may be a charcoal sketch. It could be a photograph. Might even be a book I think you will like. Could be a sculpture or a painting. It may be a gift certificate from a place I think you would like. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
• I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
• I reserve the right to change the rules!
And in return, all you need to do is post this text into a post of your own (it can be on a blog, on MySpace, Facebook etc.) and make or give 5 things for 5 others. Of course, you’ll have to send me your mailing address...Sound fun? Comment below and let me know you want to participate. Pass it on...

Another Charcoal Sketch

This is the first charcoal sketch I did after I bought blending stumps.
I was mostly just experimenting....

Charcoal Sketch

Here's the first charcoal sketch I've ever done... I saw some works online and thought it looked like fun so I bought a big sketchbook and a few charcoals and went to town. This particular sketch was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's Head of a Woman.

Style is Everything

Here's a page from one of my most recent projects.
A special thanks to Cathy for picking up these little booklets at the library and for skanning this page for me.
The page makes me feel lighter somehow.
And in such a heavy world, that's saying something.

Free Will in the Sky

This is my favorite photo I've taken in Pat's studio. It reminds me of all the famous songs and stories that involve the sun, the moon, and/or the stars "hanging" in the sky.

I prefer the idea that they are swimming. They move and dance and float and dive... Nobody put them there. They are there by choice. And I join them whenever I can.

Textures

Sometimes fluffy pillows have great textures.
-Perfect for close-up photographs.
Then again, sometimes fluffy pillows end up looking more like...

underwater sea creatures...

or cheese puffs...

or one Muppet on top of another...

or Papa Smurf's chest hair.

Maybe I should stick to photos of the studio for now!!

Artfits

Some of my friends and I have started an altered book club called "Artfits". Pat, Cathy, Annette, Kerri and I meet every other week to alter books, paint, collage, sketch, work in our art journals, share our work, etc. I took some photos of Pat's studio (our designated meeting place) and thought that a few of these photos would be the perfect way to start out my new blog. Since her studio is where I was first inspired to create a blog, I thought it best to first provide an idea of the environment in which I feel so compelled to create and THEN share my creations. Enjoy!
